Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to provide a general overview of methods of constructionally-historic research (CHR), its levels of punctuality and inform about the formal structure of the final paper. Students will be provided basic knowledge and skills used during CHR, i.e. working with certain historic sources, various ways of documentation of a building, overview of historic constructions, construction typology shown on simple examples. Special excursion is included as well. Students? theoretical knowledge will be confronted to standing historic building during this excursion.

Requirements on student

Documentation of a chosen construction. Written test contents 10 questions on all of the presented topics, it is needed to answer at least 6 questions correctly.

Content
|
Constructionally-historic survey as an interdisciplinary activity, levels of detail, way of presentation, structure and formal parts of the final paper. Emphasized will be significance of documenting contemporary state of a building, basic was and formal principles of its taking. Historic sources - archives (cadasters, maps) - working with them. Construction of the historic buildings, their technical background, materials used, way of construction, development and chronologic typology. Constructional typology shown on examples of rural house within it historic development.
