Course objectives:
|
Introduction to the history of israeli and later jewish nation, its formation on the basement of religious society, amfiktyony. Scientifical theory of origin of Israel, monoteism, concept of linear history in book Dvarim, escape from Egypt as an archetypal story of formation of a nation. Judges, kingdom, Solomons temple, centralisation of power, importance of Jerusalem, the power of aristocracy, priesthood, propeths and scholars. Babylon imprisonment as the decesive event., origin of Judaism and priesthood. Situation after exil.

Requirements on student
|
Student will understand to the history of Israel in myticaly-poetic interpretation of Bible and also in historicaly-archeological teories and in religionistic context.
To end this course student have to pass written exam. As condition to be examined student has to pass partial tests during semester.

1. History of israeli religion in context of kenaan cult.
2. Teory of origin of Israel, various approaches, symbolical representations of the history of nation in Tanach.
3. Phenomen of babylon imprisonment and change of the paradig of religion.
4 Differences between israeli religion and Judaism. Phenomenology of Judaism, basic terms. Temple and synagogue, distribution of power and authority in society.
5. Attitudes after exil. Bejt kneset hagdola, cathedrocracy, origin of halachic systém.
6. Political and religious trends in antic Jewry, Hasmoney dynasty, influence of helenism, Rome hegemony. The idea of messiah.
7. Principles of etical monoteism, prophetical tradition, heritage of pharisses democratic systém.
8. Structure of sacred writtings of Judaism, its origin and influence.
9. Calender, feasts, liturgical year, interpretation of time.
10.Rituals of crossing in life, kashrut, liturgy, jewish family and household.
11. Mishna, Gemara, development of Babylon Talmud, important personalities.
12. Jewish uprisings, downfall of the Temple, transformation of Judaism.
13. Oldest jewish mysticism, apocalyptics, strugle for preservation of integrity.

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students know relevant datas and terminology from sphere of Judaism, rabbi literature, mysticism etc. and they can use it correctly. They will identify characteristics of particular ideological and spiritual trends in Judaism. The will put into context historical development of Judaism with its historical background. They can distinguish historical frame and its mytho-poetical interpretation. |
