Course objectives:
|
Theory of cartography, history of cartography up to 18. century, up-to-date thematic maps and cartographic interpretation methods mainly in thematic cartography.
|
Requirements on student
|
Student has to follow the study plan, which is setup at the begining of the semester. Student has to pass the final exam.

Content
|
Theoretic cartography (introduction to cartography, basic terms, today?s cartography, cartographic media, metainformation)
Short overview of history of cartography and historic cartography (importance of history of cartography, historic cartography, modern cartography)
Thematic maps (thematic maps based on the Base map of the Czech Republic and on military maps, other thematic maps, international maps of the world)
Thematic map production (composition, interpretation, colors, cartographic signs, cartographic techniques, map digitization)
