Course objectives:
|
Course Ethnology of World Culture Areas would be give students the native cultures of areas among Asia, Australia and Ocenaia and Africa. Course take into consideration tree viepoints: historical, linguistical, ethnological/anthroúpological perspective orienting to looks and changes of native cultures, looks and changes of native status in given cultures. It is possible to consider comparation of cultural elements cross the mean cultural areas as one of main goals, in the filed of kinship systems, social arrangemet, linguistical elements, and among folklor. Inseparable part is conception of individual and his/her identity in the society.

Requirements on student

Seminar paper in In extent of 5-10 pages, presentation of seminar paper, oral interview in case of presentation wasn´t performed. Seminars activities.

Content
|
Course content: 1. Asia from the west to the east: Introduction into the idea of Asian cultures seen as one entirety. Comparation of western, eastern, southern a northern cultures. 2. Aborigins of Australia and Oceania: Classical writings from mid-20th century (Mead, Freeman) and the current ones. Distinguishing Australians from Aussies and searching for the appearance of the native people of Oceania. 3. What it is like to be a black man: Ethnical composition of Africa, current state of cultures in classical works (Evans-Prittchard). Comparison of the situations: to be a black man in Africe, in other continents and societies.

porovnat a srovnat dané kulturní rysy napříč kulturními oblastmi v otázkách souvisejících s příbuzenstvím a rodinným uspořádáním, příbuzenskou terminologií, jazykovými rysy, folklorem a folklorními útvary, uspořádáním společnosti a místa jedince v něm, ale také konflikty, které v historické perspektivě nesou změny identity jedinců a kultur jako celku |
