Course objectives:

The aim of this course is to develop essential skills and academic language for learners who are preparing to study in English at university level. The course is based on authentic content from university textbooks and videos of lecture extracts. Students entering the course should have at least level B1+ in English according to CEFR. After completing the course students should reach level B1+ + according to CEFR.

Requirements on student

Conditions for successful completion:
- active participation in seminars
- continuous fulfillment of assigned tasks
- presentations
- 50% attendance
- final test 75%
- interpretive essay (900 words, +-10%)

Students who are unable to attend class regularly due to combined studies, internships, individual study plans, etc. are required to contact their instructor (in person or by email) during the first three weeks of the semester. Students who cannot meet the deadlines for assignments for serious reasons are obliged to contact their tutor (in person or by e-mail) during the first three weeks of the semester. Students who cannot turn in an assignment on time for serious reasons should inform the instructor beforehand. Students are required to complete and submit assignments according to the due dates in the Schedule of Classes or by the end of the semester.
