This course prepares students for the target level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Requirements on student

Active participation in class, accomplishing homework tasks assigned throughout the semester, midterm test and final test (75% to pass).
Distance students:
- one tutorial per month

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
- distinguish between formal and informal means of communication (first-name and formal terms) |
- name the alphabet |
- identify the masculine and feminine genus of nouns and adjectives |
- name numbers from 1 to 10 |
- distinguish accented and unaccented forms of personal pronouns |
- identify regular verb forms |
- identify selected irregular verb forms |
- identify the definite and indefinite article |
- identify the forms of the present tense and near future |
