The aim of the course for students is to achieve the level A2 (CEF).

Active participation in class, accomplishing homework tasks assigned throughout the semester, midterm test and final test (75% to pass).

Week 1 Revision. Health and human body. At the doctor's. Relative and interrogative pronouns. Homographs. Past tenses revision.
Week 2 Traditional and alternative medicine. Health condition. Paronyms. Revisions of tenses covered in class.
Week 3 Press. Newspaper magazines. Issues found in newspapers. Kinds of written texts. Double past participles - supplement. Homophones.
Week 4 Telephoning. Leaving messages. Mobile phone. Passive - revision. Clothing - vocabulary.
Week 5 Kinds of shops and shopping centres. Ways of paying for goods. Shopping: in a clothes shop. Buying food. Prices. Numbers - revision. Cardinal numbers. Rules.
Week 6 Shopping. Claims. Giving things back. Quality of services. Consumer rights: questionnaire. Costs of Portugese. Inserting pronouns into verb forms.
Week 7 Revision - midterm test.
Week 8 Modern and traditional jobs. Unemployment. Participle - forms and use: revision and supplement.
Week 9 Religious feasts in Portugal. Derivation. Understanding longer oral narration - training.
Week 10 Brazil: Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian cities. Brazilian Portugese - differences in vocabulary and grammar. Periphrastic verb forms - revision.
Week 11 African lusophone countries and Timor. Portugese in Africa. Nouns and adjectives - recapitulation and supplement.
