Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to equip students with language competence at the B1/B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Requirements on student
|
Active participation in seminars.
Passing the vocabulary test.
Individual completion and presentation of the seminar paper.

1. Introduction to the subject. Course information. Topics for a seminar work.
2. Job and studies. Elementary geographical facts about Russia.
3. Housing - apartment, equipment rental, purchase, sale of apartment, reconstruction.
4. Sport activities. Important sport events - World Championships, Olympic Games.
5. Shops and services. Shops, stores, goods, services. Shopping on the Internet.
6. Personality. Character traits, behavior, relationship to others.
7. Russian family. Family relationships and family events. Family holidays, celebrations
8. Environment. City vs. country. Problems of our time. Ecology, environmental organizations.
9. Health care. Hospitals, disease. Healthy lifestyle.
10. Standard of living. Social issues - insurance, remuneration, pensions, life savings. Social programs.
11. Security, cooperation and integration. European Union - terminology.
Relations bitween Russia and Czech Republic from a historical perspective.
12. Final credit test.
13. Final assessment of the course.

use ordinal numbers to express years and decimals

describe and prepare a simple narrative about the weather, the seasons
describe the activities of environmental organizations
describe the situation at an airport
describe the process of arranging hotel accommodation
summarize and analyse information obtained by listening to a text
find relevant information in a text

correct use of reflexive and irregular verb forms
correct use of plural forms
use of ordinal numbers in data expression
correct use of adjectives
