Předmět - cíle

Cílem předmětu je obeznámit studenty s literárními směry v anglické literatuře 19. a 20. století. Na pozadí kulturněhistorických událostí bude v první části kurzu věnována pozornost nejprve východiskům, vzniku a charakteristickým rysům romantismu v dílech básníků tzv. jezerní školy (W. Wordsworth, S.T. Coleridge, R. Southey) a básníků druhé romantické vlny (G..G. Byron, P.B. Shelley, J. Keats), následně aspektům a vývoji viktoriánské literatury, tj. esejistické tvorbě, románu (Ch. Dickens, W.M. Thackeray), poezii a dramatu. Nebudou opomenuty ani viktoriánské ženy-spisovatelky a reflexe "fin de siecle" v literatuře. V druhé části kurzu budou studenti uvedeni do problematiky anglické literární tvorbu 20. století, zejména vzniku realistického románu a povídky (H.G. Wells, J. Galsworthy), modernismu (skupina z Bloomsbury), literárních experimentů v díle Jamese Joyce, vývojových tendencí britské prózy (např. Rozhněvaní mladí lidé, nový typ románového hrdiny), dramatu (od Seana O?Caseyho přes absurdní drama po závěr 20. století) a poezie. Prostřednictvím autentických textů analyzovaných v rámci cvičení kurz systematicky rozvíjí interpretační a analytické schopnosti studentů. Předmět je vyučován v anglickém jazyce. Část výuky může být realizována samostatnou prací studentů. Předmět je vyučován v angličtině.
