The aim of the course is to acquaint students with development of aesthetic ideas from antiquity up to the present. To define a subject of aesthetics. To introduce students to ancient, medieval and Renaissance concept of beauty. To introduce students to the problems of aesthetics of Classicism and Enlightenment. To describe a development of aesthetics in the German classical philosophy in the 19th century. To analyse the major aesthetic currents of the 20th century. To acquaint students with terms of contemporary aesthetics and with terms aesthetical attitude and aesthetical object.
