The aim of the course is to systematize students' knowledge in the field of history and philosophy of physics. On the one hand, students will gain a general overview of the historical and ideological development of physics, on the other hand, they will deepen their knowledge of selected topics from the history and philosophy of physics. In connection with the history of physics, attention is focused mainly on key moments in the development of physics associated with the paradigm shift. Special attention is paid to the history of astronomy and cosmology. In the field of philosophy of physics, attention is focused on the philosophical reflection of theoretical concepts of physics and the nature of physical laws, as well as on the changes of physical concepts, especially in connection with the concepts of space and time. Attention is also paid to methodological problems of physics, especially problems associated with axiomatic-deductive and hypothetical
deductive method, the role of experiments and thought experiments in physics and induction problems.
The course is scheduled once per two years.
