The main aim of the course is to provide in English language survey of the problems of rise and development of totalitarian and authoritarian systems and movements in Central and Eastern European countries. The course "Concept of Modern Totalitarianism and Central Europe" focuses on evaluation of the concept of modern totalitarianism in its various forms as an analytical tool for comprehension of different aspects of historical, social, cultural and economic development in Central European countries including the Czech republic, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Baltic States. A fatal impact of totalitarian movements for local political culture, their historical and intellectual roots and the importance of historical experience for preservation of democracy in Central Europe will be broadly discussed an explained.
