The class introduces basic principles and methods of formal demography. It reviews basic sources of demographic data and the construction of demographic variables. It focuses on methods to study all basic demographic process such as fertility, mortality, nuptiality, divorce and migration. The class also covers demographic modeling and population projections. The class investigates biological as well as social and economic foundations of population processes. The class offers illustrations based on both Czech and world population data.
