Welcome
The course aims to familiarize students with the fundamental principles of computer networks, enabling them to gain an understanding of the technologies that underpin the current Internet. Emphasis is placed on acquiring practical skills—students should gain an overview of key concepts (IP address, MAC address, DNS name, IP/UDP/TCP protocols), network devices, and transmission media. Based on this knowledge, they should be able to perform simple network diagnostics.
For example, students should be able to describe in detail what happens from the moment we enter a website address into a web browser until its content is displayed.
They should also be able to identify when a computer does not have a valid IP address or when the DNS server is not working, understand the significance of MAC addresses and DHCP servers, and know the differences between HTTP and HTTPS.
