Course objectives:
|
The aim of this subject is to teach the students how to make a complex text analysis, eg. analysis on all levels of structure (syntax, word formation, lexicon, parts of speech, morphology, phonetics and orthography).

Requirements on student
|
Credit requirements: 1. Written assignment - complex analysis of a chosen (extract of) text according to the given criteria. 2. Credit test on complex analysis.

Content
|
The seminar work will be based on the book Vaňková, J. - Vejvodová, J.: Jazyková interpretace textů. Plzeň 1997.
Each participant will be given a text for a complex language analysis including the answers. The student will present an extract of his/her analysis in the seminar, selected tasks will be given to other seminar attendants as problems to be solved. The aim of the seminar is to bring together analyses of texts from all basic styles including spoken language transcripts.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
The student is able to perform a complex text analysis. He/she can define the type of text, analyse its composition and identify the communicative situation. The student can analyse the text from the point of view of syntax, word formation, lexicon, parts of speech and morphology. The student can define the style of the text and find typical language means. The student can produce a proofreading exercise and make a successful proofreading himself/herself. He/she can analyse spoken language. |
