Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic translation procedures used in the translation of written texts. Students learn to perform text analysis and to identify equivalent expressions in the target language to make the translation correct in terms of both content and language. The seminar focuses on the translation of commercial, legal and administrative texts and on typical features and vocabulary contained in these materials. The aim of the interpretation preparation is to acquaint students with the basics of interpreting and to encourage them to learn practical skills and techniques which they can utilize in their professional life. The seminar is aimed at practising consecutive and on-site interpreting as the methods most commonly used in regular practice.

Requirements on student
|
Completion of the midterm and final tests, submission of home assignments. Active participation in the seminars is recommended.
