Course objectives:
|
Civil society is one of the basic concepts in modern political theory, theory of democracy and political sociology. Both political though and practice put ever more emphasis on it. The course Civil Society deals with different notions of civil society and its development, research and analysis of particular problems of public sphere and civil society. The course is rooted in an analysis of key relevant texts in political science, philosophy, nad sociology and their critical analysis. The course applies indicated theoratical perspectives in an empirical analysis of phenomenons of civil society nad their development both in the Czech Republic and on the global level. The aim is to decode the complex character of the issue of civil society both in its normative and empirical dimension and show how indispensable it is for the idea of well-ordered society.
This course is intended for postgraduates/Masters students.

Requirements on student

Combined examination - written and oral. Students regularly read assigned texts in Czech and foreign languages and prepare assignments on a regular basis.
