Course objectives:
|
The course is intended for doctoral studies of archeology.It concentrates on the significance of artefacts for the formation and continuation of human society mainly on the community level.The settlement area theory leads to the discussion of the importance of the archaeological record for the understanding of the relationships within prehistoric communities and among them (specialization, assistence opposed to exchange, ritual warring). The opposition between community and supracommunity leves is discussed.

Assumption of topics in the range of lectures and report on the assigned topic. An area of the exam provides a guarantor at the start of teaching.

Content
|
The course provides a comprehensive overview of the possibilities of archaeological knowledge of prehistoric communities. Emphasis is placed on the theory of settlement areas, knowledge of the demographic structure of communities and the impact of artifacts on the human world.
