Course objectives:

In this course the students will get familiar with recent opinions on the emergence of state and literate civilization in ancient Mesopotamia. They will also acquire an insight into the range of archaeological and historical sources illuminating the earliest history of the ancient Near East. Moreover, they will gain experience in the historical interpretation of archaeological and art-history sources.

Requirements on student

Students have to present their contributions in seminar during the semester and to submit seminar paper before final oral exam.
