Course objectives:

This course introduces the teoretical foundations of deneral chemistry and students can gain the practical skills necessary to further study of specialized chemical disciplines.

Pass the credit test and pass the exam (written + oral part).

1st Physical quantities and units. Basic chemical laws.
2nd Basic concepts. The mass of atoms and molecules. Amount of substance. Molar mass, molar volume. Composition of substances. Molar, mass and volume fraction. Concentration of substance. Density.
3rd Chemical nomenclature of inorganic compounds. Nomenclature of complex compounds.
4th Chemical reactions and chemical equations. Quantification of chemical equations. Calculations of chemical equations.
5th Structure of the atom. Atomic nucleus. Radioactivity. Nuclear reactions. Electron shell. Construction of the electron envelope.
6th Chemical bond. The emergence of chemical bonds. Types and characteristics of chemical bonds.
7th Structure and properties of substances. Electrical, magnetic and optical properties of materials.
8th Latent conditions of substances. Gaseous state. Liquid state. Solid state. Solutions.
9th Basic concepts of reaction kinetics.
10th Chemical equilibrium. Influence of reaction conditions on the chemical equilibrium. Basic concepts of thermochemistry.
11th Fundamentals of electrochemistry. Electrolytes. Electrolytic dissociation. Acid-base reactions. Acids and bases. PH scale.
12th Electrolysis. Electrode potentials. Primary cells. Corrosion of metals.
