Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to develop students' ability to understand philosophical text written in foreign language and to interpret it. Work with texts will focus primarily on work with source-books, on detailed analysis of specific passages and on their translation. Students will be familiarized with use of foreign texts in their research and study activities.

Requirements on student
|
Credit: active participation in seminars and essay. Seminar work validates the ability to work with text and to orientate in text. Exam: final work (translation and interpretation of selected passages of philosophical text) and its defense. The exam will test the ability of translation, interpretation and critical editorial.).

Content
|
At the seminary philosophical texts written in foreign language will be read, analyzed and interpreted.
The texts will be chosen according to specializations and abilities of the students in the seminary group. Texts will be published at the beginning of the semester on the website of Courseware.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students are able to interpret specific passage of philosophical source-text written in foreign language without the help of Czech translation. Students are able to identify applied terminology and critically review its translation. They are also able to translate passages of the text that will be cited in their papers or seminary works. |
