Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to introduce students into the basic theoretical and metodological questions of philosophy of linguistics. Show historical progress of linguistics, its specifics in particular historical periods and philosophical views on this problems. Presentation and evaluation of basic systems and thesis interested in philosophy of language. Evalution of the works of leading authorities, whose influenced the progress of philosophy of linguistics. The course is taught in English.

Content
|
This topics will be focused: History of linguistics, views on language in Antiquity and in Middle Ages, philosophical views on language in 17th, 18th and 19th century, F. de Saussare and the origin of modern linguistics. Originate of analytic philosophy and turn of philosophy to the language. Conception of language in logical empirism. Philosophy of common language. Oxfords and Wittgensteins group. Pragmatic and behavioristic conceptions of language in analytic philosophy. Communicational aspect of language from view of analytic philosophy: theory of speaking akts, intencional semantics and conversational implicaturs. Phenomenological and existencial analyse of language. Deconstructivism.

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will be able to summarize and evaluate basic questions of philosophy of linguistics. They will be introduced into the historical progress of linguistics and into the philosophical views on it in particular historical periods. They will compare particular basic systems and thesis interested in this problems. They will examine basic works of important authors connected with philosophy of language.
