Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to introduce into the basic linguistic approaches of traditional and modern conceptions. To explain language onthogenesis and phylogenesis. To focuse on the history of the Prague linguistic school and to present the most important boundary disciplines of linguistics.

Requirements on student
|
Credit: To present a paper considering future possible linguistic approaches.
Examination: To master present linguistic approaches including methodological background and context of scientific paradigma.

Content
|
The following topics will be focused: Genesis of contemporary approaches: language, thinking - being relationship, approach to boundary linguistic disciplines. Native and foreign language, current trends of bi- and multilinguism. Theory of language activity in relation to language phylogenesis and onthogenesis. Natural, artificial and formal languages, "boundaries" of linguistics. Relationship of traditional and modern trends : from historicizing, structural and functionalist trends to this day. Prague linguistic school from its beginnings up to now; similar schools in the world. Boundary disciplines of linguistics (e.g. neuro-, psycho-, bio-, socio-, ethnolinguistics, etc.); generativists.
