Course objectives:

The aim of this course is to introduce students into philosophy and give them an overview of basic philosophical categories and terminology.

Seminar paper, final test or colloquium.

Content
|
Basic overview of philosophical streams and positions in most important periods of history of philosophy (Antiquity, Renaissance, Middle Ages, Modern Age, Enlightment, philosophy of 19th century, modern philosophy). Students will be introduced into the basic philosophical cathegories and terms.

Learning outcomes
|
Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will define and describe basic philosophical streams since Antiquity till presence. They will diferentiate particular philosophical opinions and they will explain its relationship in historical intelectual, social and cultural context. They will remember, describe and define basic philosophical cathegories and terms. Students will also summarize and compare philosophical opinions of various streams and authors. They will analyse and compare various philosophical positions and ideals. They will summarize and evaluate their influence for the study of philosophy. |
