Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the spatial arrangement of the world economic activities, their connections and networks. Main emphasis is on the aspect of globalization in agricultural and production, which is influenced by changing physical geographical, social and economic factors. The course attends to changes of spatial patterns of these activities over time.

Requirements on student
|
Credit requirements:
- Active participation on exercises.
- Demonstration of knowledge about scientific articles in discussions.
- Submit reports from seminars.
- Elaboration and presentation of seminar project (in the groups) on a given topic.
Requirements for exam:
Exam is a combination of written and oral test. Written exam must be completed with the minimum of 70 % of possible points.

Agriculture in the contemporary world (geography of agriculture, development of agriculture production)
Natural and social factors in agriculture (patterns of the world agriculture production, Von Thunen model)
Innovations in agriculture (agricultural revolutions, industrialization, Green revolution, biotechnology, genetically modified organisms)
Suistainable agriculture (food supply, famines, environmental aspects)
Agriculture policy of the EU and the Czech rep. (European funds and state subsidiaries)
