Course objectives:

The aim is to deepen knowledge of German syntax, acquired by students in undergraduate studies, and plant them in the paradigms of traditional grammar, valence generative grammar and syntax. Attention is paid to the difficult syntactic phenomena of German language, as well as some specifics of German in the southern German area. The course focuses on both the theory of syntactic structures and textual linguistics (eg. Text attributes, text linguistics concepts, implementation and modification of syntactical structures in the text) and on practicing of this phenomena in specific texts from the south German region.
