Course objectives:
|
The subject extends the subject KGS/OTR1. Students become acquainted with legal terminology on the basis of work with authentic professional text. The emphasis is on learning key terms from the area of legislature and constitutional as well criminal law.
This course is taught in Russian.

Requirements on student
|
1. Passing credit test (70%).
2. Passing final test (70%) - analysis of professional legal text in terms of content and language.

Content
|
Students become acquainted with legal terminology, typical lexical and syntactic means on the basis of work with authentic specialized texts. The emphasis is on learning key terms from the area of legislature and commercial as well labour law. Attention will be paid to linguistic forms and structures that can cause complications during the reception of the text. Self-study is evaluated and checked during class.

to explain the basic linguistic terms needed to analyze the expert text |

to read and understand in context Russian written expert texts (levels corresponding to B2) |
to understand the expert text in all nuances |
to distinguish between different types of expert texts on specific examples of Russian-written texts |
