Course objectives:
Lectures conducted in Czech acquaint the students with the destiny and work of leading poets and novelists of 19th century Russian literature. The explanation outlines the specific features of the work of individual authors as well as the character of Russian literature in general. It focuses on literary-historical and literary-theoretical aspects of the works of selected authors. The seminar largely consists of the analysis and interpretation of works of art.
Requirements on student
There will be an oral exam in the end of the course. The exam will be in a form of discussion on some of the topics analysed in the course. A presentation on some chosen literary work is an essential part of the exam. Students are supposed to prove that they read a literary work related to each of the topics discussed in seminars. The seminar paper is in form of interpretation of some chosen literary work.
Students are also required to read regularly the given texts in foreign language, to work out homework. The homework is usually in the form of oral presentation or it could be an analysis of pre-defined texts which is agreed on by student as well as teacher. The homework is checked by the teacher. The presentations should be about 10-20 minutes long and consist of 10-20 pages.
