Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to define the specifics of the children's and youth literature (the relationship between the literature for adults and children's literature, the relationship of the education and children's literature, characteristics of the genres of the children's literature and their classification in the terms of age, the development of the function of the literature for children and youth, the issues of the didacticism and ideology), to discuss the development of the children's Russian literature, to familiarize students with the most important books of children's Russian literature and their authors and the possibilities of their methodological use. Lectures deal also with the genres of children's folklore. At seminars, the reading and interpretation of the particular aesthetic texts with regards to the lectures will be done.

Requirements on student
|
Within the seminars, student is asked to introduce one work of classical or modern children's literature from the point of its methodical exploitation. Student is also asked to read six works of Russian children's literature.

1.An overview of genres of children's folklore (lullabies, counting rhymes).
2.An overview of genres of children's folklore (folk fairy tales, myths, legends).
3.Relationship between the literature for adults and the children's literature. Characteristic of genres of children's literature and their classification from the point of child's age.
4.Children's literature of the 19th century, close relationship between pedagogy and children's literature (spelling books, encyclopaedias).
5.Authors of children's literature of the 19th century (Russian authors who wrote for children - e.g. Pushkin, Turgenev, Dostoevsky).
6.Pedagogical work of L.N. Tolstoy and his literary works for children.
7.Children's hero in the literature of the 19th and 20th centuries.
8.An overview of the children's literature of the 20th century.
9.Literary works of K.Chukovsky, A. Gajdar, J. Nosov.
10.The questions of didacticism and ideologism.
11.Structure of genres of children's literature (adventure literature, sci-fi literature).
12.Function of illustrations in children's books.
13.Revision lesson.
Within the seminars, there will be reading and interpretation of particular artistic texts from the point of their methodological exploitation.
