Course objectives:
|
Accent the physical properties of power semiconductor components in light of switching circuit design. Inform students about switching circuits of thyristors, BT, FET, IGBT, MCT, GTO and with their modifications for switching at series and parallel components ordination. Mention the cooperation of switching circuit with converter control circuit. Inform about structural principles for converter construction.

Credit: Active participation in laboratory exercisings, submiting a semestral work and its complete understanding, successful check tests.
Exam: Oral form, knowledge of lectured matters.

|
1. Physical properties of basic power semiconductor elements - diode, thyristor, BT.
2. Physical properties of basic power semiconductor elements - FET, IGBT.
3. Physical properties of basic power semiconductor elements - MCT, GTO, IGCT.
4. Requirements on switching circuit of BT.
5. Requirements on switching circuit of thyristor.
6. Requirements on switching circuit of FET, IGBT.
7. Requirements on switching circuit of MCT, GTO, IGCT.
8. Requirements on switching circuits with respect to type of power converter, parallel or series ordination of power semiconductor components.
9. Components protection against current overloading.
10. Components protection against voltage overloading.
11. Switching circuit cooperation with converter control circuit.
12. Discussion of intelligent switching circuits.
