Course objectives:
The aim of the informatics proseminar is to consolidate the knowledge of digital literacy and high school informatics and to deepen it in preparation for studying informatics at university level. The course is primarily intended as a preparatory course prior to entering university studies and emphasizes foundational knowledge and Czech terminology in the field. It seeks to help students manage the transition to university and to successfully complete introductory courses in algorithmic thinking and programming fundamentals that are part of a technically or science oriented degree program.
Requirements on student
To pass the course, the student should be able to work with a computer at least at the level of an instructed layman, be prepared to study independently and solve problems based on the recommended resources. At the end of the semester, a credit check test will be given, which requires a score of at least 60% of the possible points for successful completion. Alternatively, the instructor may substitute the test with ongoing homework assignments, but the criterion remains valid.
Content
The seminar will cover selected parts of high school informatics. Emphasis will be placed on consolidating or deepening digital literacy skills and acquiring basic knowledge and skills in those areas that are required for a mastering introductory computer science courses at university level (algorithmization, programming basics, working with data). Attention will be paid to the mastery of Czech terminology and the understanding of professional text in the Czech language. The seminar form of teaching allows to adapt the specific content to the needs of the students present and to facilitate their subsequent entry to university.
