Course objectives:
|
To make students aware of the basic principles of the newly created discipline and familiarize them with a selection of the problems of the description and presentation of Czech language as a target language. The students will be trained in the ability to apply their existing knowledge and skills practically and creatively. The students are supposed to write a paper (essay) and a short assignment (as the basis of the lesson plan of Czech for foreigners).

|
1. The subject of Czech as a foreign language and Czech language for foreigners. 2. Basic conditions and methods of understanding a language code. 3. Basic language skills and teaching Czech language for foreigners. 4. History of teaching foreign languages - from the early 19th century. 5. Methodology of teaching foreign languages in the 20th century. 6. Communicative methods and the ability to communicate. 7. Stratification in Czech language and teaching Czech for foreigners. 8. Typology of Czech language and its lingual-didactic consequences. 9. Socio-cultural dimension and teaching Czech language for foreigners. 10. European language policy (SERR, characteristics of particular levels of Czech as a language for foreigners). 11. Tests and continuous assessment.

Students are assumed to have mastered at least one foreign language. The associated Czech studies are recommended. |

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students are able to apply the basic knowledge to the process of teaching (teaching basic language skills).They are oriented towards a communicative approach to teaching Czech for foreigners and are aware of all the available teaching materials and their focus and quality as well as SERR including the characteristics of levels of Czech as a foreign language (A1-A2-B1-B2). |
