Course objectives:

The aim of the practice is to deepen practical radiotherapy skills under the guidance of a mentor of clinical
practice - qualified radiologist or radiotherapist.

100% active participation in the workplace (mentor evaluation) elaboration of a professional practice diary

Content
|
Content of professional practice
- use of clinical dosimetry - methods, meaning, execution, phantoms, personal protection
- planning of radiotherapy, medical documentation, irradiation protocol, work on plan creation, simulator, drawing of irradiation
fields and tattoos, photographic and X-ray documentation, fixation devices and their making
- 2D and 3D scheduling, isodozing plans using beam beam modifications, wedges, individual blanking blocks
making them
- irradiation techniques, fractionation modes, simpler irradiation calculations by hand and computer technology
- X-ray irradiators - devices and their operation, work safety
- current position and possibilities of X-ray surface and depth radiation, indication, construction of instruments, tubes, radiation reproduction and setting the patients
- documentation, patient guidance, treatment of acute and chronic changes after irradiation
- megavolt irradiators - radioisotope (cesium, cobalt) and accelerators
- construction and operation of individual devices, safety regulations and statutory provisions
- patient setup including fixation aids, reproduction of irradiation conditions, documentation keeping, wedges, blocks and
boluses
- static and motion irradiation, ensuring patients' cooperation, communication with patients, including instructions for dealing with acute and chronic post-radiation changes
- brachytherapy - planning, utilization, ways of introducing radiators, keeping documentation
- X-ray scanning on the room, afterloading techniques - preparation before application, calculation on the planning system
- the most common indication of BRT - safety regulations, emergency and operating rules
- radiation verification - in vivo dosimetric verification, images on irradiator with correlation with BEV and DRR
