Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students development of architecture and different types of movable and immovable material culture and art in fields of Islamic culture sphere from the origin of Islam to the 19th century. Each of works or construction and art trends are interpreted with emphasis on context of the formation and their roles in the organization of social relationships.
Students will be introduce with basic approaches and aspects of history and archeology of Islamic art in context of material culture. Lectures are accompanied by a screening of photos, reproductions, plans etc. Lectures including also screening of thematic documentary movies complementing the topics of lectures.

- to explain their basic characteristics depending on periods, locations of the formation and other determinants
- to recognize and characterize the main art traditions and styles, to identify the main construction types of architecture of the Middle East, the main techniques used in the art crafts etc. |
