Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to inform students about contemporary possibilities of visual expression that allow unusual aesthetic experience with time and space. Based on the art stimulus of the second half of the 20th century and art of the 21st century students practically verify various means of expression that can be applied in visual culture art education with preschool children. They combine theoretical knowledge from different areas of visual and social culture. Students seek out and present works of contemporary visual culture, and consider the trends of contemporary art (action art, performance, happening, installation art, land-art, video art) as a source of inspiration for creative tasks in kindergarten.

Requirements on student
|
Credit: To elaborate a set of 6 seminar tasks including reflective commentaries; To prepare a photo documentation of the process and the results of the solutions of art tasks; To participate in at least 75% of the seminars.
Exam: To successfully pass an interview focused on verifying the range of knowledge which is defined by the content of the subject.

7. Ceramics - creative application of technological procedures at elementary schools
8. Principles of animated film and their use at school
9. Visuality and media, virtual reality
10. Art activities such as events, happenings, performance and installation as art activities for pupils
11. Land-art in art education, art interventions into the environment using natural and artificial elements
12. Body art as an art creation with human body in the context of primary education

to clarify some concepts, ideas and facts from the areas of art and culture; |
to determine a line, a shape, a colour, a surface and a material as the means of visual expression. |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to identify the common and distinctive features of some artworks; |
to apply acquired knowledge about artistic expression in the interpretation of an artwork; |
to analyse, to interpret and to critically evaluate their own artwork. |

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
to clarify some concepts of space-time artworks of authors from the 20th and 21st centuries; |
to characterize the transformation of art techniques in the art of the 20th and 21st centuries and the relation between different types of art; |
to characterize some forms of land-art, action art and conceptual art and to demonstrate them on concrete examples; |
to characterize and to distinguish properties of different materials. |
Skills - skills resulting from the course: |
to use professional terminology to describe some artworks and their own artistic expressions; |
to explore characteristics of line, surface, space, time, colour, light and material and to use them as means of artistic expression; |
to apply their own artistic intentions in space-time art work; |
to propose simple space-time artistic activities for children in kindergarten. |
