Course objectives:

What is philosophy. Philosophy of existence. Philosophy of ghost. Philosophy and cognition. Philosophy and science. Philosophical, religious and scientific reflection of world. Philosophy of human being. Human in history, question of human freedom. God and man. Philosophy about purpose of life, life and death. Contemporary philosophy.

Requirements on student

Acquaintance of explained topics; presentation of one selected authentic text of an
European or American philosopher from ancient to the present; handing the seminar paper;
combined exam.

Content
|
The following topics will be focused: the basic knowledge of the philosophical doctrines
in the most important periods of the history of philosophy (antiquity, Middle Ages,
Renaissance, modern period, 19th century, modern philosophy); familiarization with the
categories and terms of philosophy.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will define and describe basic philosophical streams since antiquity till
presence. They will diferentiate particular philosophical opinions and they will explain
its relationship in historical intelectual, social and cultural context. They will
remember, describe and define basic philosophical cathegories and terms. Students will
also summarize and compare philosophical opinions of various streams and authors. They
will analyse and compare various philosophical positions and ideals. |
