Course objectives:

Students get acquainted with basic theories of media studies. The terms mass, mass culture, medium, public etc. are closely specified. Students get familiar with media legislation, possibilities of media regulation with a special focus at the production of media culture and media functioning. Students are supposed to work with basic literature on media studies.
