Course objectives:
|
The course aims to introduce students to the most significant and interesting events from the history of Pilsen in the context of Czech and world history. Plzen in prehistory, Old Pilsen, founding New Pilsen, Pilsen in the Middle Ages, the Hussite episode in the history of Pilsen, Pilsen during the Thirty Years War, Pilsner national rebirth, transformation of the city in the 19th century, Pilsen in the 20th century, cultural and economic development of the city of Pilsen. The partial aim is to introduce the possibility of linking the problems of this course and school practice the basics of didactics of history.

Requirements on student
|
To receive credit, students must work out seminar paper. They are expected to present this seminar paper in a class and must actively participate in class activities. They have to pass the final credit test.

Topics: Pilsen in prehistoric times, the Old Pilsen, a new Pilsen, Pilsen in the Middle Ages, the Hussite episode in the history of Pilsen, Pilsen in the Thirty Year War, Pilsn´s national revival, transformation of the city in the 19th century, Pilsen in the 20th century, cultural and economic development of the city of Pilsen.
