Course objectives:
|
Motivate future teachers to engaging and varied lessons of recent history in relation to the previous teaching of history. The course will present possible ways of interpreting, fixation and evaluation of recent history. Explains the close relationship of modern history, current events and highlights of advanced work with published documents, film and sound recordings, as well as to work with the electronic media, searching for image and text material on the Internet, their further processing and use in the classroom.

Requirements on student
|
To receive credit, students must have the factual knowledge of the history of modern times, knowledge of professional and non-fiction literature to this topic and acquaintance of didactics of History.
Students must work out a preparation of a lesson on the given topic, do the presentation in the seminar, demonstrated knowledge of literature (at least two titles). Students are obliged to pass successfully the final credit test.

2. The issue of motivation of students: From knights to tanks, from dungeons to concentration camps.
3. Criminal ideologies in the 20th century: socialism, communism, fascism. Background and differences.
4. Anti-Semitism and racism I. The development and consequences until 1945.
5. Anti-Semitism and racism II. Contemporary sources and interpretations.
6. World wars: the battle of good and evil?
7. The Cold War and the unification of Europe. Development and other ways?
8. So-called. Third World ? Where does ?white man's guilt? finish ? What about ?political correctness??
9. The collapse of communism, the end of history and the struggle of civilizations.
10. How to get along with teaching time? Does ?irrelevant? history exist?

Not only broad didactic and pedagogical knowledge - especially important is the thorough knowledge of the facts and context of the Czechoslovak and the general history of the 20th century as a basic condition of their interpretation and subsequent teaching. |

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
After this course students will propose different forms of presentation of historical themes, concerning to the modern history in way accesible to pupils of primary school. Students will know how to use different method of work not only with the textbook, a map and other ?classic? equipment, but will seek, process, analyze, and especially to make available information from the Internet and multimedia resources. Give reasons and general consistency of Czechoslovak history, as well as the fact that history would take place even in the immediate vicinity of home. |
