Course objectives:
|
The goal is to retool, to emancipate the context of historical sciences, characterize, rehearse and learn to use oral history, which in the modern world historiography is today an essential and progressive methods of teaching and research applications, while the Czech historiography only slowly after 1989 begins to break through a little bit conservative discourse. The course aims not only to oral history theory and methods of historiography, but especially to build complex skills correctly and effectively use in history research and applied: teaching history, popularization of history. The method will be discussed as a means of interdisciplinarity of modern social sciences, especially highlighting the links to education, anthropology, political science, ethnography, folklore, gerontology and geriatrics, social psychology. The final certificate will certify the skill of professional application of the method of oral history in research and teaching.

The project - carried out research through interviews with eyewitnesses and survivors on a given topic and to graduate student colloquium presented and defended interpretation of the information.

Content
|
1st Welcome to the course. What is oral history? The oldest and youngest research method. History of oral history. Oral history in the world. The main currents applied oral history, the world's leading experts of oral history and literature. IOHA. Entering the study of literature. Entering the project task.
2nd Instead of oral history in Czech historiography. Oral History Center, ICH ASCR, Center research projects, cooperation with foreign partners. Center for Oral History Sohi KHI FPE UWB in Pilsen, the cooperation of students in research projects.
3rd The method of qualitative research. Theoretical preparation of the interview: problems of selecting respondents, legislative, technical and psychological aspects. Vs. subjectivity. objectivity in historical knowledge, possibilities and limits.
4th Biographical method and its application in historiography, micro and makrohistorie, application of oral history.
5th Experts debate the given literature.
6th Interview - Practical training: taking samples and analyzing the interviews, demonstrations transkribce, examples of interpretation, the most common errors when preparing and conducting the interview and how to avoid them.
7th Practical exercises - preparation and conducting interviews.
8th Practical exercises - Analysis and interpretation of the interview. Archiving and processing of data.
9th Using the knowledge gained by oral history research in modern history, combined with classical and other historical sources, books of facts obtained correction.
10th Ethics oral historical research, pitfalls and limits of oral historical research. Possibilities of practical application of research results.
11th Student Colloquium presentation of the project task, part 1
12th Student Colloquium presentation of the project task, part 2
13th The final debate with an individual teacher and the granting of credit.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
The course is intended both for students of history and humanities students, and provides orientation in the history of the graduation requirements within the scope of history. Working with audio-visual equipment and basic user skills in IT, as well as basal secondary knowledge of psychology and sociology are an advantage but not essential.

Students will acquire orientation in the current modern methods of historical science, acquire skills to prepare and conduct interviews with expert witnesses, witness extraction can be treated from a legal perspective, acquire technical skills and overhead associated with the process of extraction of the witness, transkribuje correctly interprets the data obtained and stored according to their own and choosing to focus on one application of the guidelines offered by oral history: the popularization of history didactics, therapy and geriatrics, ethnography. |
