Course objectives:
|
Undertake thorough knowledge of basic styles and genres of jazz and popular music and apply them to teaching practice. By listening to recognize the styles and genres. To be able to critically evaluate the musical production of these styles in contemporary non-artistic music and subsequently to lead pupils to listen to high-quality artistic music in future school practice.

1 / Assessment of skills at the beginning and at the end of the course, reasons for stagnation or skills upgrading
2 / background collection - two didactically elaborated topics from nonartificial music scene. Reflection of the outcomes of the discussion on the application of the acquired knowledge in practice.

Content
|
The content of the subject is separate outputs - presentations of students in which they perform demonstration classes of music with a focus on nonartificial music followed by analysis with the lecturer and other students. Presentation themes: Essential characteristics of jazz music, African-American folk music, ragtime, marching jazz, chicago jazz, morning swing, swing, be bop, cool and west coast jazz, 3rd stream, hard bop, soul jazz, free jazz, jazz rock , contemporary jazz, creation of modern popular music, musical, singing stars of the 1940s, rock music, 60s musicians, hard rock, heavy metal, art rock, punk, contemporary music, Czech jazz scene, Czech rock scene, Czech pop scene. Reflection of the outcomes of the discussion on the application of the acquired knowledge.
In the case of distance learning orders, study aids are stored in the gapps repository. Current addresses are sent to students via the Bulk E-mail service.
