Course objectives:
|
The aim is to provide a basic overview of the development of European music from prehistory to the early 19th century with emphasis on the structural, organological, but also musically performing aspects, including the development of contemporary knowledge of this issue. These aspects will be seen in the broader context of contemporary music-theoretical, but also political, social, cultural development of society. Systematic interpretation based on analytical listening to the selected representative pieces of particular epochs will be accompanied by analytical inputs of individual students (papers).

Music prehistory and natural nations. Music of the ancient cultures of the ancient world. The music of the Middle Ages (5th-14th cent.). Music of the Renaissance (14th-15th cent.). Baroque music (1600-1720 / 30). Classical Music (from 1720 to 1730-the beginning. 19th century.). Czech music in the period of enlightened absolutism (classicism, 1740-1810).
