Course objectives:

The aim of the lectures is to acquaint students with political, social and economic history of Germany in the 19th and 20th century. Selected topics will be discussed with the active participation of students in the form of short separate speeches at the seminar.

|
Selected topics:
German states before 1848. - Specific development of the nation-state since the founding of the German Reich in 1871. - Important moments of internal and foreign policy until 1914. - The character and problems of the first German democracy between 1918-33. - Nazi Third Reich. - Establishment of the Federal Republic of Germany. - Relations of two German states. - German unification in the context of changes in Europe after 1989.
