Course objectives:

Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the subject is to introduce students to issues of Nursing as a young science discipline, to get acquainted with the historical development of nursing, to classify human needs, to clarify the importance of new terminology and the concept of nursing.

Requirements on student

80% attendance at seminars. Active approach. Oral examination, test / credit test: 80%.

|
Content of lectures:
Introduction to the basics of nursing. New concepts of nursing, the role of the nurse midwife.
Historical development of nursing and midwifery.
Concept of nursing in the Czech Republic.
Competence and education of non-medical health care workers and in relation to current legislation.
Regulation of the profession of general nurse and midwife. Registration of health professionals. Image of non-medical professionals.
Professional organisation of non-medical health professionals.
Forms of health care. Forms of nursing care, the role of nursing in primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Strategic framework for the development of health care in the Czech Republic.
WHO. Global, European and national health care strategies.
Methods of providing nursing care (functional system, group care, team care, primary care, case management).
The role and personality of the non-medical health worker.
Evidence-based practice in nursing. Fundamentals of research in nursing.
Management in health/nursing. Quality and safety of care in nursing. Standardization in nursing and quality management in nursing.
Content of the exercise:
The needs of a healthy and sick individual.
Assessing the level of self-care and self-sufficiency of the patient.
Nursing process in the care of the patient's physical activity.
Immobilization syndrome.
Nursing process in the care of hygiene and patient dressing.
Nursing issues of decubitus.
Nursing process in the care of sleep and rest.
Nursing process in the care of nutrition and hydration of the patient
Nursing process in the care of patient emptying
Nursing process in the care of breathing
Nursing process in the patient with pain
