Course objectives:

Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to provide students with practical experience with possible applications of multicultural education in school and out-of-school environment. Through specific educational situations, students experience and reflect the use of active methods and techniques of work in the context of key themes of multicultural education. Students will verify knowledge, skills and abilities in the implementation and subsequent defense of their own project / teaching lessons with multicultural themes.

Preparation of a teaching lesson / project with a multicultural theme for elementary school, its presentation and defense in a joint colloquium.

Content
|
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to provide students with practical experience with possible applications of multicultural education in school and out-of-school environment. Through specific educational situations, students experience and reflect the use of active methods and techniques of work in the context of key themes of multicultural education. Students will verify knowledge, skills and abilities in the implementation and subsequent defense of their own project / teaching lessons with multicultural themes.
1. Multicultural education in the system of curriculum documents, possibilities of realization of multicultural education in the environment of elementary school and other out-of-school institutions.
2. Objectives of multicultural education and education (formulation of specific goals in terms of the development of key competences).
3. Thematic areas of multicultural education, overview of current topics and possibilities of their processing in the lesson.
4. Analysis of selected teaching methods in realization of multicultural education.
5. Practical examples of selected teaching methods and techniques (discussion, discussion, didactic game, narrative techniques, etc.).
6. Possibilities of using elements of drama education (role and simulation games, model situations).
7. Organizational forms of multicultural education (using in particular the elements of cooperative teaching and project teaching).
8. Evaluation procedures and evaluation in multicultural education projects.
9. Planning of multicultural education in school and out-of-school practice.
10. Presentation and discussion of multicultural education projects in the Czech Republic and abroad (from the state and non-profit sectors).
11. Workshop of Practitioners - Presentation of selected project with multicultural themes.
12. Presentations of their own projects of multicultural education, their defense and evaluation.
