Course objectives:
|
This course aims to equip students with the basic knowledge of General Psychology and Psychology of the Personality; and to assist students in acquiring knowledge of personality formation in demanding life situations.
|
Requirements on student
|
To receive credit, students are expected to pass a control test, a summary test, and oral exam. Students have to elaborate a seminar paper, and an individual presentation.

Content
|
1. The subject and the significance of psychology.
2. Relation of General Psychology to other sciences.
3. The main psychological disciplines.
4. Determination of the human psyche.
5. Processes of maturation and learning.
6. Cognitive processes (perception, imaginings and fantasy, creativity, thinking, language).
7. Memory and attention. Emotional and voluntary process.
8. Psychology of the Personality (motivation; a character structure and attitude; achievement
properties of personality; temperament; basic typologies; self-regulating properties of
personality).
9. Demanding life situations as a factor of personality formation.
10. Psychological methods of personality cognition.
11. Life periods, phases of development. The pubescence.
12. Socialization of personality. Mechanisms of socialization. Social interaction and
communication. Verbal and nonverbal communication. Communication disorders.
13. Psychology of directed learning (a notion of learning, theories of learning, laws of learning).
Super-learning. Psychology of teaching, analysis of causes of bad grades. Psychology of
education. Psychology of teacher?s personality. Selected questions of mental hygiene of a pupil
and a teacher.
