Course objectives:
|
The goal of this course is to introduce the students into the issue of audiovisual technology as one of the means of interpretation of the "social reality", or as one of the means of (re)presentation of an anthropologically relevant knowledge. Together with introduction of the issue of audiovisual tehcnologies and multimedial communication into the conceptual framework of visual anthropology (and the so-called digital ethnography), the course will contain practical training of instrumentalization of photographical, cinematographical and audiovisual technologies in realization of the anthropological research, resp. in interpretation, communication and presentation of an anthropologically relevant data. In the framework of the course, ethnographically relevant movies, audiovisual recordings and web pages/applications will be presented and critically reflected. The meaning of the course is to make the students capable of anthropological interpretation of the "social reality", create their own relevant audiovisual or multimedial product as well as enable them to "read" the studied culture, based on artifacts of audiovisual and electronic character.

Requirements on student
|
In order for the credit to be awarded, the student is obliged to participate actively on seminars, create and edit of his/her own audiovisual recording that reflects the human behaviour particular cultural or social context in anthropologically relevant way, including its presentation and sustainment. The second obligation is to pass the knowledge test, based on the content of obligatory literature and lectures as well as of information, contained in the particular presented audiovisual materials and seminary texts for the particular lectures.

1. Introduction into the discourse of visual anthropology with focus on multimedial communication 2. Introduction of the possibilites of photography, audiovisial recording and multimedial means in the context of an anthropological research. 3. Training of audiovisual recording in the field (camera-work) and its elaboration (editing, dramaturgy) with focus to the needs anthropological research and education. 4. Presentation and training of application of the selected methodology of humanities in the analysis of audiovisual artifacts and pictures that originated in various cultural or social contexts.
