Course objectives:
|
The course reviews basic sociological approaches to gender and sex and offers an introduction to gender/women's studies from a variety of perspectives (structural functionalism, feminist thought, Marxism)/ The class also reviews the history of the feminist thought, the women's movements, and the sociological study of gender and sex.

- apply key concepts of gender studies in discussions and research of various sociological issues
- apply a gendered perspective in studies of particular sociological topics
