Course objectives:
|
The class offers an introductory overview of sociology for sociology majors. It mostly focuses on three areas: (a) the subject matter of sociology and the structure of the discipline, (b) the plurality of methodological and theoretical perspectives of sociology, (c) basic sociological concepts such as status, role, order, stratification, mobility, group, family, society, culture, socialization, system, structure, social norms, conformity, deviance, anomie, conflict, development.
