Course objectives:
|
The course is taught in English only and is intended for international students. The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the European history of 1814-1848 with particular attention being paid to the history of Central Europe and Prince Metternich who was not only an important diplomat and statesman of the given period but also the man possessing two domains in the proximity of Pilsen: Plass and Königswart. The attention will be paid in the courses not only to political but also economic, social, cultural, religious and military history. The courses will be held not only indoor but also outdoor during the field trips to the places connected with Prince Metternich.

Requirements on student
|
Students will be obliged to participate in the lectures, read the basic literature and several texts from the extending literature and prepare themselves upon both the literature as well as published documents (see WALKER, 1968). Students will have participate in discussions and give a paper in English at the seminar, write an essay during the term and pass a verbal exam at its end, both in English. In the case of more than three nonattendances, the students will also have to pass written tests in English.The knowledge of French and German languages is welcomed.
